Lib Tech Dynamo Review: C3 for Speed and Carving
Lib Tech Dynamo is a directional, camber-dominant board for people who like speed, carving and serious all-mountain riding. It has a C3 profile, a 1" setback, a mild taper and a milder Magne-Traction. It is Mervin's answer to the return of camber: the classic feel without losing the brand's two patents. Here is everything we know about it, from the shop, from Doychin's video and from Lib Tech.

The Dynamo is Mervin's answer to the return of classic camber
This is how Doychin tells the story in his video. When Lib Tech invented the Banana shape more than 15 years ago, it came together with the Magne-Traction patent, the wavy edge that gives stability on ice. That combination started a revolution that the whole industry began to chase and copy. Then came the backlash, with a lot of noise about a return to the old classic camber.
With the Dynamo, Mervin strikes back: it brings back classic camber without losing its two patents, the rocker between the feet and Magne-Traction. That is why we see the Dynamo's C3 profile as a strong reference to the return of camber, but in Mervin's modern interpretation.
Over the years the model has evolved but has always kept one idea: a directional, camber-dominant board for serious all-mountain riding. Earlier versions had a more surfy, slightly pointed feel in the nose. The newer shape is more modern, with a slightly cut-back nose in a modern retro style. Doychin describes it as "a pronounced, slightly sharp retro-style nose."
C3: it looks like classic camber, but under pressure the center touches down first
C3: camber under the feet and toward the nose and tail, with a very mild rocker between the feet.
Seen from the side, the board is classic camber. But when you press on the piste, you can see that the center surface between the two feet makes contact first. That is the very mild rocker of the C3. So you do not lose the super reactive, fast turn that every rocker board has, while the camber zones give stability, spring and a very clean feel on hardpack.
The longer nose gives stability and helps off-piste. Lib Tech calls it a "relaxed entry nose": the nose enters the turn calmly, while the mild taper and the 1" setback shift your weight slightly back.

Magne-Traction is milder because C3 with full Magne-Traction is too aggressive
Here is one of the most interesting details Doychin mentions in the video. The Dynamo's Magne-Traction is, as he calls it, "0.5 Magne-Traction," the smaller one. The reason is that combining C3 with the big, classic Magne-Traction makes the board too aggressive. With the milder waves along the edge, the Dynamo holds on ice but does not bite too sharply.

On morning corduroy it writes beautiful turns, and in deep snow it wants speed
The Dynamo is great for fast carving on piste. Doychin says the board can carve on morning corduroy without any loss of speed in the turns, writing beautiful morning arcs. Despite the directional shape, the difference between nose and tail is fairly small, so the board is quite manageable and feels almost symmetrical.
Off-piste the Dynamo performs very well for more skilled riders. Thanks to the slightly directional shape, you can move the stance back, the so-called setback, and on those deep days when you do not want to step on a piste at all, the Dynamo behaves beautifully. You just have to keep your speed up and be fairly confident.
Who it is for: the Dynamo is for speed and for serious off-piste riding, without being extremely specialized for just one thing. Who it is not for: C3 really is for more skilled riders. If you are still learning, pick a board with more rocker. The Dynamo will wait for you when you want speed.

Size: 153 and 156 for a standard foot, 162W for a big rider with a big boot
The Dynamo is camber-dominant and you feel the length: a longer size for speed and deep snow, a shorter one for trees and shorter turns. The flex grows with the size, from 5 on the 153 to 6.5 on the 162W. The 162W is for a heavy rider with a big boot, from 75 kg and EU 44 up. Enter your weight and boot size and we will show you which of the available sizes fits.

Dynamo vs. the family: Dynamiss, DynaSword and E-Jack Knife
The Dynamo has a whole family. Lib Tech Dynamiss is the Lady Dynamo: the same directional C3 philosophy with a flex and sizes for women's lower average weight, without being "lightened" in the sense of being weakened. Lib Tech DynaSword is the young, small Dynamo: a real high-level machine in sizes around 130-140 for a youth who wants to keep up with his parents. Lib Tech E-Jack Knife is the same directional C3 with a 1" setback, but with HP construction, a sintered base and a spoon nose: the stronger version with more pop.

Frequently asked questions
What profile is the Dynamo?
Ours is from the 2025/26 season: a directional C3, camber-dominant with a very mild rocker between the feet. For 2026/27 Lib Tech moves to traditional camber, but that is not the one we have.
Why is Magne-Traction milder?
Because C3 with the full, classic Magne-Traction becomes too aggressive. The milder waves hold on ice without the edge biting sharply.
Is the Dynamo suitable for beginners?
No. C3 is for more skilled riders. In deep snow it wants speed and confidence. For a first board, choose something with more rocker.
Is the Dynamo good in deep snow?
Yes, for a confident rider. The longer nose and the 1" setback help, and on deep days you can move the stance even further back. Keep your speed up.
Is there a women's version of the Dynamo?
Yes: the Dynamiss, the Lady Dynamo. The same directional C3, with a flex and sizes for women. For youth there is the DynaSword.
How to choose, and where to try it
If you ride fast, love carving on freshly groomed piste and want a board that is not afraid of off-piste riding, the Dynamo is the choice. If you are a woman, get the Dynamiss. If your child already rides fast, get the DynaSword. If you want an even stronger version, get the E-Jack Knife. Come to our shop at 6A Golo Bardo St. in Sofia or call us at +359 887 800 575 and we will show you the board in person and pick the size together. We have been riding this stuff since 1997.
