Foot length (mondo): stand on a sheet of paper, mark your heel and your longest toe, and measure the distance. Mondo is this length, in mm or cm depending on the column.

The Ski Alper is for people who skin up and ski down, and for spring, when it is warmer in the mountains than it looks. The insulation is Polartec Alpha: it holds in warmth but lets sweat out, which matters more than pure warmth on a climb.

The upper is a windproof three-layer material, and the palm is waterproof leather cut to grip a pole. The lining is merino wool and recycled materials. A wind and rain cover sits in a pocket on the back and goes over the glove when needed. There is a window for your watch and I-Touch fingertips, so your phone works without taking the glove off.

Warmth index 2000: the second of five levels on Level's scale, for normal winter days. For cold January days on the lift, take a warmer model.

Size. Level glove sizes are the palm circumference in inches. Measure around your palm at the knuckles, thumb excluded, with a tailor's tape: 18 cm is 7 (S), 19 cm is 7.5 (S-M), 20 cm is 8 (M), 21.5 cm is 8.5 (M-L), 23 cm is 9 (L), 24 cm is 9.5 (XL), 25.5 cm is 10 (XXL).
