Lib Tech No.43 Review: Lady TRS with C2X and HP

Lib Tech No.43 Review: Lady TRS with C2X and HP

Lib Tech No.43 is what we would call the Lady TRS: a strong women's true twin with high-level character: C2X, HP construction, Magne-Traction, a setback of 0 and a flex of about 5. It is for a woman who rides confidently and treats the whole mountain as her own park. Here is what the name means, why the profile is C2X and not C3, which size to take and how it compares to the TRS, Glider and Dynamiss.

Snowboard Science ep. 3 - C2 Hybrid Profile, TrueRidersSnowboard Science ep. 3: C2 Hybrid Profile - rocker between the feet, camber under them

The No.43 is the Lady TRS: a high-level twin, not an "easy" women's board

Many of Mervin's women's boards, like the Glider and Gloss, are made first of all to be easy. The No.43 is on the other side: a strong twin for a woman who already rides confidently and wants a board that answers every movement. That is why we call it the Lady TRS, the women's version of the TRS idea, the Total Ripper Series: a stiff, athletic board with plenty of pop for hard riding in both directions.

Lib Tech describes it as "the ideal board for power freestyle, for riders who see the whole mountain as their personal park," meaning women power freestyle riders for whom the whole mountain is a personal park. The model's slogans are "high-level freestyle with horsepower" and "responsive and agile for powerful moves in any terrain."

Lib Tech explains the name in one sentence: "4 letters in the word LOVE, 3 letters in the word YOU." The No.43 is "I love you" said in numbers, and the brand adds "love always wins the battle of the boards." The artwork on the 2023/24 generation is by Tim Zimmerman: a dark topsheet with blending blue and purple stripes and a clean Lib Tech logo on the base (the sliding surface).

This is a model that many people will not want to part with years later. They hang it on the wall, because Lib Tech boards often become part of a personal collection. With the No.43 there is one more reason: the last official generation is 2023/24. We did not find a 2024/25 page on Lib Tech's site.

An important technical note: the No.43 2023/24 is C2X, not C3

C2X: rocker between the feet and stronger camber zones under the feet, the high-level version of the C2 hybrid profile.

An important technical note: the 2023/24, the last official generation, is a C2X, not a C3. Lib Tech states it clearly: "responsive C2x hybrid profile with plenty of pop." C2X is part of the C2 family: rocker between the feet, camber under the feet. Mervin describes C2X as a "profile for extreme riding in any terrain," the more aggressive, high-level version of C2: more spring, grip in carving and energy on ollies (pop off the tail).

What this means when riding: the rocker between the feet keeps the board from catching on a mistake and makes it easier to press and balance on the nose or tail. The camber under the feet gives stability at speed and a strong takeoff from a kicker. Magne-Traction returns control on hard and icy snow: the waves along the edge bite into ice when others are already sliding.

HP construction and a wider waist, for hard riding in both directions

The No.43 is a true twin with no setback (0), a flex of about 5/10 and HP construction. HP is Lib Tech's Horsepower construction: a wood core of 60% aspen and 40% paulownia, triaxial/biaxial fiberglass with basalt, and an Eco Sublimated TNT base that is fast and easy to maintain. It is the same HP construction as the TRS 2023/24, not a lightened women's version.

For 2023/24 Lib Tech also widened the waist: "new, wider waists for upright freestyle stances." A wider waist allows a more upright freestyle stance without your toes and heels catching the snow. The result is a twin that rides equally hard forward and switch, in the park, on the piste and in the chopped-up afternoon snow.

For confident women riders: not the first board, but the board that stays

The No.43 is not a board for the first day on snow. C2X and HP demand a woman who already masters her edges and wants more than an easy turn: speed, jumps, rails, riding switch. For her, the No.43 is a board she will not outgrow: a flex of about 5 is soft enough for pressing and balancing on the nose or tail and lively enough for hard riding.

If you are just starting, the better choice is the Glider, the women's Skate Banana. If you want speed and carving on the hardpack more than park, get the Dynamiss. The No.43 is in the middle, with the strongest freestyle character of the three.

No.43 vs. TRS, Glider and Dynamiss: which one for whom

Lib Tech TRS is the men's original of the idea: C3, HP construction and a setback of about 0.5", for hard riding in both directions. Lib Tech Glider is the women's Skate Banana: Original Banana, an easier turn and more flotation (in fluffy snow), for starting out and relaxed riding. Lib Tech Dynamiss is the Lady Dynamo: a directional C3 profile for women who want speed and carving.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Lib Tech No.43 a C2X or a C3?

C2X. The last official generation, 2023/24, has a "C2x hybrid profile" in Lib Tech's words: rocker between the feet and camber zones under them, not C3.

Is the No.43 suitable for beginners?

Not as a first board. It is a high-level twin with HP construction. For starting out, get the Glider, and the No.43 is for the next step.

What does the name No.43 mean?

Four letters in LOVE and three in YOU: "I love you" said in numbers. That is how Lib Tech itself explains it.

What is the difference between the No.43 and the Glider?

The Glider is an easy board with Original Banana for starting out. The No.43 is a C2X with HP construction: more spring, stability and precision for confident riding.

Which size should I get?

The 146 is from 35 kg and the 152 from 45 kg. Take the shorter for park and balance on a press, the longer for speed. If you are not sure, write to us.

How to choose, and where to try it

If you ride confidently, want a high-level twin with character and a board that will stay with you for years, the No.43 is the choice. If you are just starting, get the Glider.
