Lib Tech Off Ramp Review: Camber Twin for Street and Park

Lib Tech Off Ramp Review: Camber Twin for Street and Park

Lib Tech Off Ramp is a freestyle board for young riders whose world is street (riding in the city: rails, stairs) and park, who want maximum skate feel, plenty of pop and a board that sits naturally on a rail, a box and a jump at the side of the piste. The profile is traditional camber, the shape is a pill-shaped true twin with a setback of 0, and the edge has a mini Magne-Traction. Here is who makes it, how it rides, which size to take and how it compares to the Head Space, Box Scratcher and Skate Banana.

Snowboard Science ep. 1 - Camber, TrueRidersSnowboard Science ep. 1: Camber - the classic profile and why it is coming back

The Off Ramp is Phil Hansen and Matteo Soltane's board for features, built on the street

Lib Tech says the Off Ramp was "designed and refined for a whole year by Phil Hansen, Matteo Soltane and friends": a board made and refined for a whole year by people who ride street. Phil Hansen is the artist behind many of Lib Tech's graphics and drew the Off Ramp artwork himself for 2024/25 and 2025/26 (for 2023/24, together with Coleen Lawler). The brand's idea is "the ultimate freestyle board for features": looking for spots in the city, filming clips, rails, stairs, handrails.

But the Off Ramp is not a "one-trick pony," as Lib Tech puts it. It loves the park and the whole piste with friends too. Typical Mervin: the whole mountain can become a skate park.

Traditional camber, not C3: that is why it is springy and stable on landings

Traditional camber: the board is curved up between the feet and rests on the snow only with the ends of the edge.

An important technical note: the Off Ramp has traditional camber, not C3. That is what strengthens its athletic, springy character and makes landings stable. The camber stores energy when you load the tail for an ollie (pop off the tail) and returns it in the jump. When you land from a kicker or a rail, the board does not "drop" under your feet: the camber keeps it taut and stable.

Why there is a debate at all: for 2023/24 Lib Tech wrote "C3 camber" in the description. But evo's review for the same year notes that the Off Ramp does not have the mild rocker between the feet that makes a C3, so the profile is traditional camber. From 2024/25 the brand itself writes camber and shows the camber contour. In practice our boards from 2023/24, 2024/25 and 2025/26 all ride as pure camber.

The edge is a mini Magne-Traction: smaller waves than the standard one. Enough to bite into hard and icy snow without getting in the way when sliding on a rail or box.

A pill-shaped true twin with a setback of 0: a pure tool for park and street

A true twin, a setback of 0 and strong pop make it a pure tool for park and street. The nose and tail are identical and rounded, a "pill" shape that does not catch when spinning and slides easily on metal. For 2023/24 Lib Tech says it directly: "loves freestyle and attacks metal." The core is springy, a wood core of aspen and paulownia, and underneath is a sintered base, "durable for the street," tougher against hits from concrete and metal, and faster. For 2025/26 the construction is OP+.

The flex is about 7: the 151 and 154 are 7, and the smallest, the 148, is 6.5. That is a stiff board for the park, so the Off Ramp is more for a rider who already jumps and wants stability, not for a first trip into the park. Lib Tech also describes it as "suitable for groomers, for the rope tow and for riding without bindings," a board you ride on a small tow and without bindings in a street session.

For young street riders, and for anyone who wants the mountain as a skate park

The Off Ramp is for people who see the mountain as a playground: every edge is a ledge to slide, every pile of snow is a ramp. Traditional camber and a flex of about 7 make it demanding. It forgives less than a rocker or hybrid-profile board but gives back more. If you already ride in the park and want more pop and stability on big landings, this is the right step up.

Doychin also notes the smaller sibling: the Youth Off Ramp S comes in sizes around 132/137/142, with a flex of about 6 and a mini Magne-Traction. The standard Off Ramp is bigger and stiffer: a flex of about 7, OP+ and a sintered base. We currently stock the standard sizes.

Size: 151 for lighter riders and rails, 154 for jumps and stability

We have the 151 (from 45 kg, 25.1 cm waist) and the 154 (from 50 kg, 25.3 cm waist). For street and rails, take the shorter size: it spins and presses more easily. For park jumps and more riding on the piste, take the longer. We also have the 151 from earlier generations: the Lib Tech Off Ramp 151 2025 and the Lib Tech Off Ramp 151 2024. Off Ramp vs. Head Space, Box Scratcher and Skate Banana: which one for whom

GNU Head Space is Forest Bailey's street twin from Mervin's other brand: C3 and a softer flex, which forgives more on presses and balancing on a press on the nose or tail. Lib Tech Box Scratcher is the youth version of the same skate idea with Banana: BTX, a soft flex, even easier for first rails. Lib Tech Skate Banana is the classic: Original Banana for park, trees and deep snow, much more forgiving than camber.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Off Ramp a C3 or traditional camber?

Traditional camber. For 2023/24 Lib Tech wrote C3, but the board has no rocker between the feet. From 2024/25 the brand itself writes camber.

Is the Off Ramp suitable for beginners?

Not as a first board. The camber and a flex of about 7 demand a rider who masters their edges. For the first seasons in the park, get the Box Scratcher or the Skate Banana.

What is a mini Magne-Traction?

Lib Tech's smaller waves along the edge. They bite into hard snow and ice but do not get in the way when sliding on a rail or box.

What is the difference between the Off Ramp and the Head Space?

Both are Mervin twin boards for street and park. The Off Ramp has traditional camber and is stiffer: more pop and stability. The Head Space is a C3 and softer: it forgives more.

Which size should I get?

For street and rails, the shorter; for park jumps and piste, the longer. If you are not sure, write to us.

How to choose, and where to try it

If you already ride the park and street and want a twin with plenty of pop and stable landings, the Off Ramp is the choice. If you want more forgiveness on presses and balancing on the nose or tail, get the Head Space. If you are just entering the park, get the Box Scratcher or the Skate Banana. Come to our shop at 6A Golo Bardo St. in Sofia or call us at +359 887 800 575 and we will show you the board in person and pick the size together.
