Lib Tech E-Jack Knife Review: C3 for Aggressive Riding

Lib Tech E-Jack Knife Review: C3 for Aggressive Riding

The Lib Tech E-Jack Knife is Eric Jackson's directional pro model with C3: a strong, direct board with lots of pop for carving on piste, deep snow, chopped-up natural terrain and big landings. It is a high-level board for advanced riders who want the character of camber without losing the freedom for nose tricks and natural freestyle. Here is everything we know about it, from the shop and from Lib Tech.

Snowboard Science ep. 4 - C3 hybrid camber, TrueRidersSnowboard Science ep. 4: C3 hybrid camber - the aggressive camber profile for speed and control

The E-Jack Knife carries the character of Eric Jackson: anything but relaxed

The E-Jack Knife is Eric Jackson's pro model. By age he might pass as a seasoned snowboarder, but there is nothing relaxed about his riding. The board is built to exactly that character: it is not for a stroll down the piste, but for someone who wants to ride fast, jump off natural kickers and land with confidence in uneven terrain.

The model shows up with us season after season with different artwork, but the idea stays the same. On the 2023/24 the top sheet is black with a colorful skull, and on the white base the skull is huge, under the Lib Tech logo. On the 2025/26 the graphic is by Ben Lardy: a skeleton archer on a black top sheet and antlers on a white base. Both generations share the same formula: C3, a spoon nose, a tail with a slight taper (a wider nose than tail), 1" of setback, HP construction and a sintered base.

C3: a camber-dominant profile with a slight hint of rocker between the feet

C3: camber under the feet and toward the nose and tail, with a slight hint of rocker between the feet.

The profile is C3: camber dominates, and between the feet there is only a slight hint of rocker. Lib Tech describes it as "an aggressive profile for any terrain": camber toward the nose and tail for pop, power and stability, and a slight rocker in the center that helps carving, edge hold and float (in powder). On the same graphic Lib Tech writes that C3 is the favorite profile of E-Jack, Jamie Lynn and Fredi K.

What that means on snow: the rocker is enough that the freedom it gives is not lost entirely. The board does not bite the snow at every small mistake and the turn starts more easily than with traditional camber. But the main character stays strong, direct and springy. Press it in the turn and the E-Jack Knife answers right away; leave the lip of a jump and the camber launches you.

Directional, but not extremely so, which leaves room for nose tricks and freestyle in serious terrain

The shape is directional, but the nose and tail do not differ drastically. The stance is set back 1", the tail is only slightly narrowed, and the nose is in the shape Lib Tech calls a "soft spoon nose": curved like a spoon so that it floats and rides through bumps instead of hitting them.

That way, even in serious terrain there is room for nose tricks, transitions and natural freestyle. You can press the nose off the edge of a bench, do a press on an icy mogul, take off from a natural kicker and land in chopped-up snow. The 1" setback is enough for float in the deep, but it does not tie you to one direction as much as a pure freeride board does.

On piste, in deep snow and in natural terrain, the E-Jack Knife is a high-level board

Carving on piste, deep snow, chopped-up natural terrain, big landings: the E-Jack Knife handles it all well. The strong wooden core gives lots of pop, and the quality sintered base completes the high-level character: it is fast, holds wax and does not stall in soft snow.

HP construction is one of Lib Tech's most serious constructions, the same line the brand puts in the T.Rice Pro. The flex is around 6 on the smaller sizes and 7 on the bigger ones: stiff enough for speed and stability, but not so stiff that it demands a constant fight.

Who it is not for: someone who is only starting out, and a rider who wants soft, forgiving riding and park in both directions. C3 and HP construction demand technique and speed. If you are advanced and want one board for serious mountain that stays playful, the E-Jack Knife is a very good choice.

Size: on the 2025/26, two of the three pieces are W

The E-Jack Knife is camber-dominant, so length is felt more than on a rocker board: for speed and deep snow take the longer size, for more maneuverability in the trees and natural freestyle, the shorter. We have both generations: the 154 and 157 from 2023/24, the 159W and 162W from 2025/26. The waist has to match your boot: the standard width up to size 43, the W version from size 44 up. Enter your weight and boot size and we will show you which of the available sizes fits.

The E-Jack Knife versus its relatives: Dynamo, Jamie Lynn and T.Rice Pro

The Lib Tech Dynamo is the closest relative: also a directional C3 with 1" of setback and a slight taper, but with OP construction, a TNT base and a cleaner character aimed at carving. The E-Jack Knife is the stronger version with more pop, with HP and a sintered base. The Lib Tech Jamie Lynn 2024 is also C3 and directional, but with 1.5" of setback, a smooth radial sidecut and a classic feel on the edge, and with collector's artwork. The Lib Tech T.Rice Pro is a true twin (identical nose and tail, so it rides the same in both directions) with C2 and HP: the choice if you want one board for both park and riding switch.

Frequently asked questions

Who is Eric Jackson?

A professional Lib Tech rider the board is named after. His riding is fast and strong, in serious natural terrain, and the E-Jack Knife is made for exactly that kind of riding.

Is the E-Jack Knife suitable for beginners?

No. C3 and HP construction demand technique and speed. For a first board, pick something with more rocker and a softer flex.

What is the difference between C3 and traditional camber?

C3 is camber-dominant, with a slight hint of rocker between the feet. It forgives a bit more and turns more easily, while the camber under the feet and toward the ends stays.

Is it good in deep snow?

Yes. The spoon nose and the 1" setback keep the board on top, and the sintered base does not stall in soft snow. For the deepest days you can move the mounting back a little more.

What is the difference between the E-Jack Knife and the Dynamo?

The same directional C3 and 1" of setback. The E-Jack Knife has HP construction and a sintered base: stronger and with more pop. The Dynamo has OP and a TNT base: cleaner and more accessible.

How to choose and where to try it

If you ride hard, love carving at speed, natural kickers and deep snow, and want a camber board that stays playful, the E-Jack Knife is the choice. If you want the same profile in a calmer version, the Dynamo. If you want a true twin for everything, the T.Rice Pro. Come to the shop at Golo Bardo 6A in Sofia or call us at +359 887 800 575 and we will show you the board in person and pick the size together. We have been riding this stuff since 1997.
