GNU Ladies Choice review: the women's asymmetric twin with C2X
The GNU Ladies Choice is Jamie Anderson's women's asymmetric twin with C2X - a board for confident riders who want park, riding switch (riding with the other foot forward) and beautiful carving on the groomers, with a heelside turn and a toeside turn that feel equally easy. Doychin calls it the little sister of the Rider’s Choice and one of GNU's signature women's boards. Here is everything we know about it - from Doychin's video, from the shop and from GNU.

The Ladies Choice is the Rider’s Choice's little sister - an asymmetric twin for women who trust themselves
GNU says the Ladies Choice has earned its place in snowboard history together with Jamie Anderson - the most decorated woman in the sport. Her balance between progression and play is built into the board: asymmetric geometry, a C2X profile and a setup for smooth freestyle. GNU adds her view of nature: FSC-certified wood in the wood core and water-based inks.
Doychin starts his video with the sibling: the Ladies Choice is the little sister of the well-known Rider’s Choice and this year it is again one of the signature boards for women who feel more confident on the snow. The same idea, but with a flex (how soft or stiff the board is) matched to lighter weights, and with sizes for a smaller foot. For the men's model, see the GNU Rider’s Choice review.
The artwork is by Sarah King - a GNU collaboration that has run for more than ten years. We have two generations with her graphics: 2025/26 with a red and black mandala and 2024/25 with a blue tree on a black background.
"Heels here": the asymmetry makes the heelside turn match the toeside turn
A snowboarder stands sideways, so the heelside turn and the toeside turn never feel the same. GNU's answer is its Asym patent: the heel side has a deeper sidecut radius. In the size table you see it as two radii - for example 8.1 / 7.8 m at 145.5, with the smaller one on the heel side.
The board has small "Heels here" labels and Doychin shows them in the video: the heels are always mounted on this side. If you ride left foot forward, the nose points one way; if you ride right foot forward, the other way. The shape is a twin, so this makes no difference to how it rides, but it is mandatory for mounting. Then the two turns feel exactly the same and the track on the groomer comes out extremely clean - according to Doychin, that is the gift of asymmetry to the rider.
Women who also ride in the opposite direction, with the back foot forward, will feel equally confident both ways. The stance (the distance between the bindings) is centered and the setback (stance moved toward the tail) is 0.
C2X: pronounced rocker for an intuitive turn, pronounced camber for the jump
C2X: rocker between the feet and pronounced, longer camber zones toward the nose and tail.
Doychin puts it this way: every C2X board has a pronounced rocker between the feet and a pronounced camber toward the nose and tail. The rocker gives the intuitive turn and forgives when the edge catches wrong. The camber gives the spring for the jump, the ollie (pop off the tail) and stability on landing. C2X is the more aggressive version of C2 - more camber, more pop.
Underneath, the construction is serious: a G Lite 3 core, Carbon Power Bands, Magne-Traction and a Knife Cut sintered base (faster, holds wax). The carbon makes the board lively and springy, and the wavy edge holds when the slope turns icy in the afternoon.
Snowboard Science ep. 3: C2 hybrid profile - camber, rocker, camber, explained simply
A little over half is for hardpack: park, switch, carving - and for deep snow the mounting goes back
Doychin defines the setup precisely: the board is tuned slightly more than 50% toward hardpack. That means groomers, park, jumps, tricks, riding switch - anywhere the twin shape and the C2X work in the rider's favor. In his view the Ladies Choice performs at a high level on any terrain, with priority on hardpack and freestyle.
In deep snow it is a touch harder if the mounting stays centered - the nose does not float up by itself the way it does on a directional board. The fix is simple: move the mounting back. Then the Ladies Choice becomes a perfect tool for deep snow too, says Doychin. You do not need a second board for the day after a snowfall.
Who it is not for: if you are just starting or do not feel confident enough, the Ladies Choice will demand too much. Doychin recommends a BTX board to every beginner woman - a forgiving board that tolerates everything. The Ladies Choice is a board for more advanced women.

Size: from 142.5 to 153.5, by weight and by boot
The Ladies Choice is a twin with a setback of 0, so you pick it like a freestyle board: a shorter size for park and riding switch, a longer one for speed and deep snow. GNU gives 142.5 from about 25 kg, 145.5 from 30 kg, 148.5 from 35 kg, and 151.5 and 153.5 from 40 kg. The flex rises with the size - from 4 to 5.5. The waist is between 23.2 and 24.4 cm - for a smaller women's boot; if you have a bigger foot, try it with your boot in the shop. Enter your weight and boot size and we will show you which of the available sizes fits.
| Size | Contact length | Waist | Sidecut radius | Flex |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 142.5 | 107 cm | 23.2 cm | 8.0 / 7.7 m | 4 |

We also have the 142.5 in the 2024/25 generation - the GNU Ladies Choice 142.5 2025, with the same geometry and construction. For 2026/27 GNU updates the shape of the nose and tail.
Ladies Choice vs its relatives: Rider’s Choice, Ladies Choice Camber and Glider
The GNU Rider’s Choice is the men's brother - the same asymmetric twin and C2X, with a 3-D Delightwood Asym Chip under the feet, a stiffer flex and sizes from 154.5 up. The GNU Ladies Choice Camber is the camber version - the same asymmetry but with C3: more pop and stability, less forgiveness, for park, jumps and fast riding. Until 2024/25 it was called the Pro Choice. The Lib Tech Glider is the easier entry - Original Banana, a true twin (identical nose and tail - rides the same in both directions) and a soft flex, exactly the forgiving board Doychin recommends to beginners.
The table compares the Ladies Choice with the three closest boards we carry: profile, shape, flex, who it is for and where it rides.
| Ladies Choice | Rider’s Choice | Ladies Choice Camber | Glider | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Profile | C2X | C2X | C3 | Original Banana |
| Shape | women's asymmetric twin | asymmetric twin | women's asymmetric twin | true twin |
| Flex | 4-5.5 | 5.5-7 | 4.5-5.5 | 4-5 |
| Who it is for | advanced women, freestyle | confident rider in both directions | advanced women, more pop | women, from day one |

Frequently asked questions
What does the "Heels here" label mean?
That the heels are mounted on this side, whether you ride left foot or right foot forward. The deeper sidecut radius is on the heel side - if you reverse the mounting, the asymmetry works against you.
What is the difference between the Ladies Choice and the Rider’s Choice?
The same asymmetric twin idea and the C2X profile. The Ladies Choice has a softer flex, a narrower waist and sizes from 142.5 to 153.5 - for lighter weights and a smaller foot.
Is the Ladies Choice good for deep snow?
Yes, if you move the mounting back. With a centered mounting it is a touch harder in deep snow, because it is tuned slightly more toward hardpack.
Ladies Choice or Ladies Choice Camber?
C2X forgives more and turns more intuitively. The camber version with C3 gives more pop and stability, but needs a stronger, more confident rider.
Is it suitable for beginners?
It is not our first choice. For a first board Doychin recommends BTX or Original Banana - for example the Glider. The Ladies Choice is for the next step.
How to choose and where to try it
If you ride confidently, like park, riding switch and beautiful turns, and want the heelside turn to be as clean as the toeside one - the Ladies Choice is your board. If you want even more pop - the Ladies Choice Camber. If you are just starting - the Glider. Come to our shop at Golo Bardo 6A in Sofia or call us at +359 887 800 575 - we will pick the size and mount the bindings with the heels on the "Heels here" side. We have been riding this stuff since 1997.
