An asymmetric twin with C2X, an asymmetric sidecut and a 3-D Delightwood Asym Chip underfoot – the same feel on toe and heel side, lots of pop for park, freestyle and all-mountain riding.
GNU Rider’s Choice is one of the most technical and longest-running models from Mervin and GNU. It is an asymmetric twin (Asym), built around the fact that the human body does not turn the same way on the toe side as on the heel side.
The heel side uses a deeper sidecut with a smaller radius value to make heel-side carving easier. The asymmetric physics of the rider is compensated by asymmetric board geometry, and the result, paradoxically, is one of the most symmetrical feelings in riding.
Across generations the model has also used asymmetric power plates / 3-D Delightwood Asym Chip solutions under the feet, which spread the force so that the feel on toe and heel evens out even more.
One of its most distinctive traits is the huge pop. Rider’s Choice is lively, springy and a lot of fun for aggressive freestyle riding.
Our own technical observation: on the heel side Magne-Traction is less pronounced as a relief, not weaker as an effect. In older Mervin materials this was also marked as "0.5". The logic is that the heel side naturally takes more load, and equally pronounced Magne-Traction could feel like too much grip.
Technical highlights: asymmetric twin (Asym); C2/C2X depending on the generation; asymmetric sidecut; asymmetric power plates; Magne-Traction; lots of pop; park / freestyle / all-mountain.
Our version is the 2025/26 generation with C2X - the more aggressive version of the hybrid C2 - with the 3-D Delightwood Asym Chip, G Lite 3 core and Carbon Power Bands.

Size is not chosen by length alone. Weight, surface area, waist width, profile and the effective edge (the part of the edge that cuts into the snow) together decide how a board rides. The table shows the minimum rider weight Mervin gives for each size. A shorter board turns faster and is more playful; a longer one brings more stability and float. The waist should fit the boot: at about 24-25 cm, boots are usually up to size 42-43 (EU), at 25-26 cm up to 44-45, and the W versions are for bigger feet, so toes and heel don't drag when carving.
