Bike, Surf, Snowboard and Ski Shop!
A women's true twin (identical nose and tail, rides the same in both directions) with a hybrid C2 profile for women who ride the whole mountain like a park: groomers, natural jumps, park and riding switch (riding with the other foot forward). Magne-Traction and a sintered base (faster, holds wax).
The GNU Velvet is the board the girls on the GNU team choose when they ride the whole mountain like a park. The idea is Naima Antolin's and the artwork is Hannah Eddy's. If the Gloss is the women's Money, the Velvet is the next step: the same women's true twin philosophy (identical nose and tail, rides the same in both directions) with C2, but with a G Lite 2 wood core and a sintered base (faster, holds wax).
The hybrid C2 profile is rocker between the feet and camber zones under the feet. The rocker makes the board catch-free and easy to butter, while the camber and the snappy flex (how soft or stiff the board is) give pop and stability. Magne-Traction keeps control on hardpack and ice.
True twin, centered stance (no setback), equally natural in both directions. The Velvet is calm in all conditions and just as balanced in the park as on a groomer with banked turns or in the street.
This is a board for a woman who already rides confidently and wants to turn the whole mountain into a playground: groomers, natural jumps beside the trail, park, riding switch (riding with the other foot forward). It is not stiff and demanding, but it is not a board you will outgrow quickly either.
Technical highlights: women's true twin; hybrid C2; centered stance (no setback); Magne-Traction; G Lite 2 Aspen/Paulownia; triaxial/biaxial fiberglass; Eco Sublimated sintered base; flex around 4-5.5; park / freestyle / all-mountain.
What we have is the 2024/25 generation in 147 cm: 107 cm contact length, 23.9 cm waist. In 2025/26 the waist of the same size is 24 cm.

Size is not chosen by length alone. Weight, surface area, waist, profile and the so-called effective edge (the part of the edge that cuts the snow) together tell how a board will work. The table shows the lower weight limit that Mervin gives for each size. A shorter board turns faster and is more playful, a longer one brings more stability and float. The waist has to match the boot: at around 24-25 cm the boots are usually up to EU 42-43, at 25-26 cm up to EU 44-45, and the W versions are for a bigger foot, so the toes and heel don't drag in carving.
