A women's directional twin with Original Banana / BTX and Magne-Traction – easy, catch-free and forgiving. For women starting out and for relaxed freestyle riding all over the mountain.
In philosophy, the GNU Fiction is the women's Facts - the easiest way into the Banana feel in GNU's women's range. Doychin recommends a BTX board to every woman who is starting out or wants a board that doesn't demand anything from her - the Fiction is exactly that.
The Original Banana / BTX profile is a rocker between the feet with camber zones toward the nose and tail. The board doesn't catch an edge when you make a mistake, the turn starts almost as soon as you shift your weight from heel to toe, and the nose floats up by itself in soft snow. Magne-Traction adds predictable control on hardpack.
The shape is a directional twin with accessible geometry and a softer flex, around 4-5. It rides easily switch too, and when your technique arrives, the Fiction carries on into the park, nose and tail presses and freestyle across the whole mountain.
This is not a learner board you will swap after a season, but real Mervin technology at a reasonable price. For us it is the calmest way for a woman to get into snowboarding and stay in it.
Technical highlights: women's directional twin; Original Banana / BTX; centered stance (no setback); Magne-Traction; G Lite 1 Aspen/Paulownia; tri-axial / bi-axial fiberglass; Eco Knife Cut Co-Ex base; flex around 4-5; all-mountain / freestyle; easy handling.

| Size | Contact length | Waist | Sidecut radius | Stance (min-max / setback) | Flex (1–10) | Rider weight |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 145 cm | 108 cm | 23.4 cm | 7.8 m | 45-57.2 / 0 cm | 4.5 | from 30 kg |
| 148 cm | 112 cm | 24 cm | 7.9 m | 47-59.7 / 0 cm | 4.5 | from 30 kg |
Size is not chosen by length alone. Weight, surface area, waist width, profile and the effective edge (the part of the edge that cuts into the snow) together decide how a board rides. The table shows the minimum rider weight Mervin gives for each size. A shorter board turns faster and is more playful; a longer one brings more stability and float. The waist should fit the boot: at about 24-25 cm, boots are usually up to size 42-43 (EU), at 25-26 cm up to 44-45, and the W versions are for bigger feet, so toes and heel don't drag when carving.
Not sure which size? Write to us or stop by our shop in Golo Bardo, Sofia - we have been riding this stuff since 1997.
