The Lib Tech Orca Techno Split is the top tier of the Orca splitboard. Travis Rice rebuilt his directional power "fish" in the Techno Pop carbon construction, to be light on the climb and uncompromising on the descent.
The shape and profile come from the Orca: a long floaty nose, a short Whale Tail and C2X, with rocker between the feet for float and camber toward the nose and tail for pop and edge. The difference is in the body: unidirectional carbon, 30° Carbon Mega X and magnesium stringers around a Paulownia and Aspen core, the same Techno Pop philosophy we know from the Cygnus Big Mike.
The widths allow float on pillows and landings off cliffs, and the board stays short enough to be nimble on the climb and surgically precise in tight, technical terrain. The skins, the splitboard bindings and the Karakoram UltraClip 2.0 with Tip-Locks turn the two halves into one for the descent.
Travis himself rides the 156 and takes the 153 when the terrain is very steep and technical. We ride the regular Orca Split, and for us the Techno version is the next step, for people who already know why they want an Orca off the piste.
Key specs: Travis Rice; directional; C2X; Whale Tail; 1.5" setback; Techno Pop construction; unidirectional carbon + 30° Carbon Mega X; magnesium stringers; Paulownia / Aspen core; sintered base; Karakoram UltraClip 2.0 + Tip-Locks; Magne-Traction; flex about 8; powder / backcountry / splitboard.

| Size | Contact length | Waist | Sidecut radius | Stance (min-max / setback) | Flex (1–10) | Rider weight |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 153 cm | 110 cm | 26.3 cm | 8 m | 43.2-60.9 / 3.8 cm | 8 | from 70 kg |
A splitboard is chosen like a regular board for the same terrain: by weight (the table shows the lower limit Mervin gives), with a bit more length or surface area for float in deep snow with a backpack. The waist should match the boot; touring boots are usually bulkier.
Not sure which size? Write to us or stop by our shop in Golo Bardo – we have been riding this stuff since 1997.
