A directional C3 one-board quiver for advanced riders – a floaty nose for deep snow, camber and Magne-Traction for hard piste and ice. The board has shifted volume (shorter and wider for the same volume) and is ridden about 2 cm shorter.
The GNU Gremlin is "one board for everything" for an advanced snowboarder - a camber machine with a floating nose that loves deep snow, eats hardpack and is not afraid of ice.
The C3 here is almost full camber with a very passive rocker between the feet. The Gremlin rides stable, bites on hardpack and pops powerfully, but does not forgive careless, sliding riding. Magne-Traction and the camber together make it one of the most secure carving boards when the snow is hard.
The shape is directional, with a wider nose than tail and 2" setback, and the volume is slightly shifted - a shorter contact length and a wider waist. That is why GNU advises riding the Gremlin about 2 cm shorter than your usual board. The deep sidecut radius makes it fast from edge to edge.
This is a board for a rider who does not want to choose between piste and deep snow. An honest word on the limits: in very deep snow it does not float like a true deep-snow arrow of the Orca kind - this is an all-mountain board with a lean toward deep snow, not the other way around. It is not for beginners - the camber asks for active technique, but gives back control and speed.
Technical highlights: directional; C3; 2" setback; slightly shifted volume; tapered; Magne-Traction; G Lite 2 Aspen / Paulownia core; Knife Cut sintered base; flex around 6; all-mountain / carving / deep snow.
On our blog: How to choose a snowboard: profile, flex, length and width
| Size | Contact length | Waist | Sidecut radius | Stance (min-max / setback) | Flex (1–10) | Rider weight |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 155 cm | 108 cm | 26.4 cm | 7.2 m | 48.9-60.9 / 5.1 cm | 6 | from 65 kg |
| 158 cm | 110 cm | 27 cm | 7.5 m | 48.9-60.9 / 5.1 cm | 6 | from 70 kg |
This is a volume-shifted board - it rides shorter than your usual board, because width and area give the float and stability that otherwise come from length. The table shows the lower weight limit that Mervin gives for each size. The waist is wide - the board also works with big boots without boot drag.
Not sure which size? Message us or stop by our shop in Golo Bardo, Sofia - we have been riding this stuff since 1997.
