A hybrid C2 with Magne-Traction at a reasonable price, in a true twin shape: easy and forgiving for a first serious board, but lively enough for park, riding switch and freestyle.
The GNU Money is one of the best-value boards in the GNU range: not "cheap" in construction, but a reasonably priced entry to real Mervin technology.
The hybrid C2 profile combines a clearly pronounced rocker between the feet with camber zones. The rocker gives easy handling and a Skate Banana feel, and the camber zones bring back control, carving and pop.
The softer construction makes the Money pleasant and forgiving for someone who is just starting, but does not turn it into a temporary learner board. It can stay interesting for a youth who wants serious freestyle, park and riding switch.
This is one of the most sensible price-oriented models from GNU and Mervin: a board that can be a first serious board and keep being ridden for a long time.
Key specs: true twin; hybrid C2; centered stance (no setback); Magne-Traction; G Lite 1; poplar / Paulownia; triaxial/biaxial fiberglass; Co-Ex base; flex about 5.5-6.
We carry the 2024/25 generation: GNU lists the profile as C2e, the softer, easy-riding variant of the hybrid C2, with elliptical camber zones under the feet.
Review on the blog: GNU Money review: Mervin technology at a reasonable price
| Size | Contact length | Waist | Sidecut radius | Stance (min-max / setback) | Flex (1–10) | Rider weight |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 144 cm | 110 cm | 24.2 cm | 7.9 m | 48.3-60.9 / 0 cm | 5.5 | from 35 kg |
| 152 cm | 115 cm | 25.3 cm | 8.1 m | 51.5-63.5 / 0 cm | 6 | from 40 kg |
The size is not chosen by length alone. Weight, surface area, waist, profile and effective edge length together tell how a board will work. The table shows the lower weight limit that Mervin gives for each size. A shorter board turns faster and is more playful; a longer one brings more stability and float. The waist should match the boot: at about 24-25 cm the boots are usually up to size 42-43 (EU), at 25-26 cm up to 44-45, and the W versions are for a bigger foot, so that toes and heel do not drag when carving.
