The Roxy Poppy Package is the first snowboard a child takes onto the snow - board and bindings in one box, assembled at the factory. Roxy boards of recent seasons come from Mervin, the people behind Lib Tech and GNU.
The rocker profile and the catch-free sidecut are the most important thing for the first days. Rocker lifts the edges toward the nose and tail, the board does not catch the snow on a mistake, and the child turns without falling on every try. The soft flex and the all-wood core make it light and lively, not a plank to roll around on.
In the box is the board with the bindings mounted. At 80, 90 and 100 cm these are Poppy Speed Strap, size XS (US 12C-3), and the board has cap construction. At 110, 118 and 128 cm the bindings are classic, size S (US 2-7), and the construction is sandwich - with a sidewall along the whole edge.
The size is chosen by weight, not by age. Roxy gives 20-35 kg for 80 cm up to 30-55 kg for 128 cm and does not list an age - weight and boot size say more than years.
This is not a youth high-performance machine like the DynaSword, but exactly the opposite - an honest first board that lets a child fall in love with snowboarding before thinking about technique.
Technical highlights: rocker; true twin geometry, centered stance (no setback); catch-free sidecut; all-wood core; cap construction (80/90/100) / sandwich construction (110/118/128); soft flex; bindings mounted in the box; first days / all-mountain.
We carry the 2023/24 generation, size 90 cm: Poppy Speed Strap XS bindings (US 12C-3), cap construction, Roxy gives 20-40 kg for this size.
On the blog: How to choose a snowboard: profile, flex, length and width
| Size | Contact length | Waist | Sidecut radius | Stance (min-max / setback) | Flex (1–10) | Rider weight |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 90 cm | 60 cm | 21 cm | 5.5 m | 27.9-35.5 / 0 cm | - | 20-40 kg |
For kids' boards, choose the size by the child's weight and height - the table shows the lower weight limit that Mervin gives. A shorter board is easier to control and the child progresses faster; a board to grow into is harder and slows down learning.
