Travis Rice's Orca in a carbon Techno Pop construction – a directional C2X, light and powerful, for deep snow, steeps, trees and fast riding on the piste.
Lib Tech Apex Orca is the Orca in its highest form - Travis Rice's favorite directional board, built with Mike Olson's carbon engineering. If the Orca is the arrow for deep snow, the Apex Orca is the same arrow with carbon.
The shape is the Orca's: a long floating nose, a short powerful tail with camber and a 7 m sidecut. The directional C2X gives float in deep snow and control on hardpack, and the short radius in the tail keeps mobility and control in tight, steep and technical terrain.
The difference is the Techno Pop construction - unidirectional carbon over 30° Carbon Mega X and magnesium strips around a wood core of Aspen, Paulownia and recycled PET. The new Anti Matter 3-D nose and tail take weight off the ends, so the board spins more easily in the air and between trees. It is the same Techno Pop world that the Cygnus Big Mike comes from.
The Apex Orca is for an advanced rider who knows why they want an Orca and wants the best of it - from fast riding on groomed terrain to heli drops. Like every Orca, for us it is a second board for the big days and a collector's item.
Technical highlights: Travis Rice; directional; C2X; 2.5" setback; 7 m sidecut; volume shifted (shorter and wider for the same volume), 3-6 cm shorter; Techno Pop construction; unidirectional carbon + 30° Carbon Mega X; magnesium strips; wood core of Aspen / Paulownia / recycled PET; Anti Matter 3-D nose and tail; sintered base (faster, holds wax); Magne-Traction; flex around 7; deep snow / freeride / groomed terrain.

| Size | Contact length | Waist | Sidecut radius | Stance (min-max / setback) | Flex (1–10) | Rider weight |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 153 cm | 110 cm | 26.7 cm | 7 m | 49.5-62.2 / 6.4 cm | 7 | from 65 kg |
| 156 cm | 113 cm | 26.7 cm | 7 m | 49.5-62.2 / 6.4 cm | 7 | from 70 kg |
This is a volume-shifted board - you ride it shorter than your usual board, because width and surface area give the float and stability that length would otherwise provide. The table shows the minimum rider weight Mervin gives for each size. The waist is wide - the board works with big boots, and the boot won't catch in the snow.
Not sure which size? Write to us or stop by our shop in Golo Bardo, Sofia - we have been riding this stuff since 1997.
