Travis's LIB-TECH ORCA 156 2025: Elevating the Jackson Hole resort ride, this tech shred predator boasts a floaty nose, “Whale Tail Technology”, and a 7m sidecut. Perfectly wide for hardpack railing and dreamy pillow floats, yet ideal as a daily driver. Buy one, support orcaconservancy.org. Travis's apex freeride masterpiece.
The Lib Tech Orca is the flagship of the Travis Rice series and a prime example of the trend toward short, wide boards: boards that should be measured not in length but in area. Travis turned his board for fast riding on the groomed terrain of Jackson Hole into an all-terrain machine, and every year the Orca sells out to the last piece.
The directional C2X profile combines rocker between the feet with long camber zones toward the nose and tail. The long floaty nose rises easily out of deep snow, and the short Whale Tail takes the load off the back foot. The sidecut radius is only 7 m: the Orca turns fast and accurately and handles the steepest sections and dense trees. The waist is wide enough to lay it on edge on hardpack without boot-out, and narrow enough for everyday riding.
Inside are the brand's top materials: HP construction, an Aspen and Paulownia core and a black graphite Knife Cut sintered base, which is fast, easy to repair and holds wax much better. On top, every design has an orca, and part of the sales goes to the Orca Conservancy and orca protection.
We would say, though, that the Orca is your second snowboard, for the days when the big snow falls. It is not the board for everything, and we will argue with you if you think it can be. For every day there is the Golden Orca. And the Orca is collectible: we know people who buy each new one just for the artwork.
Key specs: Travis Rice; directional; C2X; Whale Tail; about 2.5" setback; sidecut radius 7 m; volume shifted, 3-6 cm shorter; HP construction; 60% Aspen / 40% Paulownia; Knife Cut sintered base; Magne-Traction; flex about 7; powder / freeride / resort.
We carry the 2024/25 generation with artwork by Jessica Lichtenstein. We also have the Orca 2025/26: by spec the same shape, profile and construction, with artwork by Toby Grubb.

This is a volume shifted board: it rides shorter than your usual board, because the width and surface area give the float and stability that otherwise come from length. The table shows the lower weight limit that Mervin gives for each size. The waist is wide: the board also works with big boots without boot-out.
Not sure which size? Write to us or stop by our shop in Golo Bardo – we have been riding this stuff since 1997.
