Travis Rice's directional C2X board for deep snow – short and wide, with a long floaty nose, a short Whale Tail and a 7 m sidecut radius. The second arrow in the quiver for big powder days and trees.
The Lib Tech Orca is the flagship of the Travis Rice series and a prominent representative of the trend toward short, wide boards - boards that should be measured not in length but in area. Travis turned his sharp-turning groomed terrain board from Jackson Hole into a machine for any terrain, and every year the Orca sells out to the last unit.
The directional C2X profile combines rocker between the feet with long camber zones toward the nose and tail. The long floating nose rises easily out of deep snow, and the short Whale Tail tail takes the load off the back foot. The sidecut is only 7 m - the Orca turns quickly and precisely and handles the steepest sections and dense forest. The waist is wide enough to lay it on edge on hardpack without the boot catching in the snow, and narrow enough for every day.
Inside are the brand's top materials - HP construction, a wood core of Aspen and Paulownia and a black graphite sintered Knife Cut base (faster, holds wax): fast, easy to repair and it holds wax much better. On top, every design features an orca, and part of the sales goes to the Orca Conservancy and orca protection.
We would say, though, that the Orca is your second snowboard - for the days when the big snow falls. It is not the board for everything, and we will argue with you if you decide it can be. For every day there is the Golden Orca. And the Orca is collected - we know people who buy every new one just for the artwork.
Technical highlights: Travis Rice; directional; C2X; Whale Tail; about 2.5" setback; 7 m sidecut; volume shifted (shorter and wider for the same volume), 3-6 cm shorter; HP construction; 60% Aspen / 40% Paulownia; Knife Cut sintered base; Magne-Traction; flex around 7; deep snow / freeride / groomed terrain.
Our version is the 2025/26 generation with artwork by Toby Grubb. We also have the Orca 2024/25 - by spec the same shape, profile and construction, with artwork by Jessica Lichtenstein.

This is a volume-shifted board - you ride it shorter than your usual board, because width and surface area give the float and stability that length would otherwise provide. The table shows the minimum rider weight Mervin gives for each size. The waist is wide - the board works with big boots, and the boot won't catch in the snow.
Not sure which size? Write to us or stop by our shop in Golo Bardo, Sofia - we have been riding this stuff since 1997.
